About us

Agribusiness is a major economic sector both in the state of Goiás and in the Midwest region of Brazil. Its current expansion and dynamism involves many complexities related to socioeconomic and environmental issues. The Postgraduate Program in Agribusiness (PPAGRO) builds on the tradition of the Federal University of Goiás, which is connected to local and regional realities. It aims to meet demands for research on key issues affecting the competitiveness and the dynamics of regional agribusiness. PPAGRO research focuses on economic, social and environmental sustainability.

Professionals from the most diverse backgrounds are welcomed to study and act systemically in agribusiness sector. Given the characteristics of agro-industrialization process in the Midwest region of Brazil, interdisciplinary research is the most appropriate approach to train professionals able to respond to the challenges posed by this business sector. Integration of already established scientific fields such as economics, sociology and administration, will foster the production of comprehensive high quality knowledge.
